Cloud Quest Slot

We have been looking forward to reviewing Cloud Quest for quite a while now here at, but with Play’n Go’s new game release schedule being so aggressive over the past few months, it has taken a while to really give this game the attention that it deserves. It may not be the biggest name slot in the range, but without looking to give too much away early on, we do feel like it deserves a bit more attention from players rather than simply remaining a hidden gem. It is packed with great features and while it does not feature Batman or Superman, it is one mobile game that has every chance of appealing to fans of superheroes and comics as you’ll find out for yourself after the jump!

What to Expect

Cloud Quest Play'n Go SlotThe developer has never been afraid of experimenting with the board layout on its games, and we were never likely to be playing over five reels and three rows forever – especially when such a creative team of designers was involved! When it comes to Cloud Quest, the sheer size of the board is immediately striking through its square shape, with the five reels that we know and love having been joined by five rows of symbols. These symbols, and the game as a whole, look outstanding in their cartoonish glory, and this game goes a long way to justifying Play’n Go’s reputation for having some of the best designers in the business.

The symbols on this big board technically win in an all pays format, but this game is not about matching the same symbol from left to right. Instead you will be looking to form clusters of symbols, with three matching icons touching on the board – which is a lot easier than the nine required on NetEnt’s Aloha Cluster Pays, that’s for sure! When the symbols complete a combo, they will disappear. Rather than going with rolling reels and bringing yet more symbols into view from above, players will instead be awarded a wild card in their place, which can still lead to a chain of wins. It is a good job that there is some wild action here too, as otherwise there would be no wild card at all on this slot!

The wizard aside the reels reminds us of something out of He-Man, but it is the meter underneath his feet that is of most interest to us. Whenever you win with the yellow symbol that looks like some kind of rock, the meter will increase and when it is full, you’ll receive one free spin with one of four different special features. It might be a five times multiplier, scatter pays on every symbol, sticky wilds for your chain reactions or a chance to see all winning symbols turning into wilds rather than just the middle one.

There are proper free spins on offer here on this one too, and they are all based around the word ‘bonus’ being printed behind one row of symbols. As you might expect, the aim is to clear the symbols that are in the way and if you do so successfully, the spins will begin. Between five and twenty spins are awarded and players are required to choose one of the three heroes to accompany them. A classic, three-reel slot then comes into play for the spins, with your chosen ally taking on a monster on each spin. When they win the battle, three more spins are awarded and if you win every battle, you’ll receive instant cash and a multiplier on however many spins you have left.

The Verdict

The decision to play out free spins over a smaller board is a brave one on the part of Play’n Go, but we found that it really adds to the charm of Cloud Quest. The rest of the game is of very high quality too, from the graphics to the thrill of the winning combinations and resulting wilds. As we said early on in this review, it really is a very solid game with plenty going for it, and while you probably have never heard of it before, we would definitely suggest checking it out for yourself and getting acquainted at the recommended mobile apps above.
