The original Doctor Love slot has not exactly navigated the test of time successfully, as you will have seen if you read our review of it here on the site. However, his popularity did hit a peak back when the game was current, and it certainly warranted revisiting the character once more, with the result being this game, Doctor Love on Vacation. Every good doctor deserves some time away, no matter what they specialise in, and we recall this slot having maintained the charm of the original well while also taking things in an obviously warmer direction!
What to Expect
Part of the charm of the first slot in this series was the graphics, which have actually stood up well over the years. However, we were pleased to see that the newer version here on Doctor Love on Vacation has made some improvements, and NextGen has actually managed to pull all of that off without sacrificing any of the charm that made it special in the first place.
The changes to the base gameplay are minimal to the point that you will probably not even notice them if you are familiar with the base game. The same twenty win lines return, along with the same coin bet options, and a tanned Doctor Love continues to serve as both the most valuable symbol on the board and the wild card. The only truly noticeable change is that the love meter of the first game has been replaced by a surfboard in the role of the scatter. Yet again, the results of landing it remain the same, with three, four or five of them landing on the board at the same time resulting in the award of ten, fifteen or twenty free games. There is still a three times multiplier on offer on all prizes too, but while that is always welcome, a real sense of déjà vu is almost inevitable when playing.
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
Reviewing Doctor Love on Vacation basically left us asking ‘why?’ This game is basically the original Doctor Love with a slightly modified theme and we just cannot really see the point in it. We are usually more than happy to encounter slots sequels, where developers take a popular game and build on it, but there is no such building going on here. Indeed, clones of existing games are a bit of a bugbear of ours and for it to be so blatant is rather disappointing. To be honest, we would have to suggest sticking with the original as it explores the intended theme far more interestingly. Then again, both Doctor Love on Vacation and the first game are on offer at the same mobile casinos, as recommended above, so you could just give both a shot and see which take on the theme you prefer!
