The Eastern theme on the mobile reels is something that offers players more choice than just about any other genre, and NextGen has more than its fair share of such games up its sleeve. You could pick Eastern Dragon, or might prefer to try your hand at Emperor’s Garden. Both games are reviewed right here at MobileCasino.net, but right now our focus is on Cherry Blossoms, which might well be the pinkest Asian mobile slot that we have ever played. Okay, so that is not exactly much of an accolade but there may be some surprises in store here on this game – let’s find out as always in the full review after the jump!
What to Expect
NextGen has made a few massive jumps in the quality of their visuals in recent times. The problem here on Cherry Blossoms is that it must have come out before those jumps were made! It is not an ugly slot as long as you don’t mind the colour pink, but it is lacking the visual flair that makes some of the more recent Eastern slot releases special. It is basically passable, as is the basic gameplay which takes in twenty win lines and is boosted by the geisha, who acts as a wild throughout and also doubles the value of prizes in which she participates.
The main goal on the slot is just what players will be expecting, with free spins being the order of the day when three, four or five of the Cherry Blossoms symbols land in view. Fifteen, twenty or 25 free spins are the order of the day respectively, and all wins are tripled compared to their base game values. It is pretty simple all round, but the spins can at least be retriggered from within the round for a bit of additional action when everything falls into place.
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
The thing about Asian themed mobile slots is that there are so many of them that any game has to be something pretty special to stand out, like Asian Beauty from Microgaming, for example. Cherry Blossoms is about as basic as it gets, and wilds and free spins do not really add anything to the genre that we have not seen before from other developers. As is becoming increasingly common among the older NextGen mobile slots, it does something that has simply been done better elsewhere and so it can be tricky to recommend.
