We have high hopes for Oink – Country Love, and not because we have much by way of prior information or anything like that on the game. Instead, this is the joint release for August from Microgaming along with Emoticoins and we have honestly never been as disappointed with a Microgaming release as we were with that one. Basically, the entirety of the developer’s summer release schedule hinges on this being a decent game, so there is more pressure on this slot than usual – let’s find out whether it is up to the task!
What to Expect
Oink – Country Love gets off to a good start as there is no question that it is a decent-looking game all round. The cartoon style is pretty typical of Microgaming, but the fact that this game would not look out of place in the Rhyming Reels slots series is a good thing no matter which way you look at it and we cannot help but be pretty happy with that. Sure, there are playing card icons and themed symbols in their standard configuration, but that is not necessarily a bad thing here, especially when there are an impressive 45 win lines with which to put them all together. We cannot actually recall ever having played a Microgaming slot with 45 lines, but the more the merrier as far as we are concerned and this is easily one of the biggest of the most recent releases.
Helping players out with making the most of this impressive win line setup are two different wild cards, with one playing the banjo and the other on the fiddle. They seem pretty happy with themselves and players will be too given that they can cover for any other symbol on the board except for the golden ticket scatter.
The choice of bonus round associated with those golden tickets is not exactly surprising, as players are basically going after free spins. The tickets are not technically scatters either, as your three or more in view have to land like any other winning combination, starting from the first reel and then moving inwards on adjacent reels. You will still win an instant cash prize for a scattered formation, but no spins.
Anyway, three, four or five of them in the prescribed combination will trigger five, ten or twenty free games. That is the base number, as it is possible to land two scatters on reels two and three. Two on the second reel will double the number of spins, while two on both reels two and three will quadruple them.
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
The 45 lines on Oink – Country Love were a pleasant surprise and there is a lot of potential in the free spins bonus round. The game is unlikely to ever go on to become an all-time classic by any stretch of the imagination but it is a solid game with quite a bit of action to take in. it also goes a long way towards making up for the relative disappointment of Emoticoins and that is basically all that we asked for from this one and it is definitely the August highlight for mobile Microgaming fans in the UK.
