Big Top Slot

Entertainment breeds entertainment, and if anything is known for bringing merriment and joy to the general population, you can bet that it has been used as a slots theme on several occasions. The case in point here is the circus on Microgaming’s Big Top mobile slot, which is the phone and tablet variation of a game that has been around for a number of years already. Much like Big Kahuna, the game has seemingly been plucked from the history books for the purposes of sending Microgaming fans down memory lane, as it is essentially a classic slot played over five reels rather than three. When you offer as many mobile slots as Microgaming does, there is always plenty of time for some fan service and we are sure that long-time fans will be every bit as thrilled with this one as they ever were!

What to Expect

Big Top Mobile SlotIf this game came out as a new release today, we would probably run away screaming – it really does look that bad. Fortunately, with nostalgia in mind, it looks perfect and there is no point changing it as that defeats the purpose! Eyesore playing card icons and themed circus symbols that look more like clipart than well-designed prize winners are par for the course on Big Top and players will simply either love it or hate it! There are nine lines in play for the purposes of matching things up, and that again is something that harks back to a different time in slots gaming.

The clown symbol looks particularly confused, but you won’t mind encountering him on the regular as he is the Big Top wild card. Sadly, outside of filling in for all but the scatter, he doesn’t do much else, but every little helps in this regard. Speaking of the scatter, that is the monkey in the hat. There are no bonus games in the Big Top, so don’t expect to be walking the high wire or taming any lions. Instead, that scatter is in place solely to ignore the nine win lines while still being capable of paying out an instant cash prize when three or more land in view.

The Verdict

Much as we said with the graphics on this slot, if the whole Big Top experience came out today we would probably have to rate it in the negative stars bracket. If you have never played it before then there is basically no reason to start now as slots gaming has moved on massively. However, if you have played it before over the years and either want to relive it or see just what you were spending your time on all those years ago, it serves a purpose. New players need to steer clear of this one, but existing fans may at least get some kind of novelty value out of it.
