As if Microgaming’s Asian slots selection was not big enough already it has been boosted substantially in recent times, first by Six Acrobats and now by 108 Heroes. While the former is set in a Chinese circus, this game seemingly has more to do with Japanese warriors, although this game is somewhat ambiguous in terms of some kind of storyline. It does not help that the graphics could be seen as being somewhat dated either, but that could be a small complaint if the gameplay is up to scratch and we will find out for sure as we make our way through this review.
What to Expect
108 Heroes would not look out of place among Microgaming slots that were released a few years back, which says just about all you need to know about the graphics and ensures that this is no masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination! We would not be surprised to learn that this game had been around online for a while before being converted for mobile devices, but we cannot find anything to support that. On the contrary, this game features the same gameplay as Sugar Parade, which was launched at exactly the same time and is definitely brand new. Perhaps Microgaming just wants to stick with tradition!
The 108 Heroes logo is wild, although there were not quite as many opportunities to make the most of it as we would have hoped, with the game being played over the course of just fifteen lines. We usually prefer a few more, but there are at least a couple of bonus features to help things along, starting with the Chest Bonus. Land three or more treasure chests on a win line and twelve chests will be on display, with players being assigned a number of picks equal to the number of triggering symbols. The chests simply contain cash and while we were not overly impressed with the amounts, they are nice enough given how often the round triggers.
Slightly more exciting is the free spins round and these spins are triggered just as you might expect, with three or more scatters in view leading to ten free spins with a three times multiplier. Another ten spins can be triggered indefinitely as players land further trios of scatters, but that is basically all that there is to it on this one.
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
Microgaming has kept things simple here on 108 Heroes and this game was never given the chance of being anything outstanding. In all honesty, it feels like filler for the developer, keeping them at the forefront of the Asian slots theme in quantity terms rather than bringing anything impressive to our recommended mobile casinos. It is one that will pass the time for fans, but is probably not worth going out of your way to play.
