The Transformers movie franchise may have become something of a metaphor for massive, somewhat unnecessary explosions on the big screen, but to be completely honest we have never seen any of them and have no opinion either way! What we did love as kids was the Transformers cartoon series and this game, Transformers – Battle for Cybertron, seemingly has far more in common with those cartoons than the movies themselves. For us, that is a win, just as much as it might be a disappointment for some of our readers, but the good news is that the style and basic theme remains the same. We cannot promise massive explosions, but we can promise an impressively solid base game together with a whole host of bonus features, so let’s see what’s up on these reels.
What to Expect
Sometimes, a mobile slot just screams ‘action’ as soon as you load it up, and we honestly cannot think of a more appropriate slot game to do precisely that than this one. If you are familiar with the Transformers universe then you will be knowledgeable about what is presented on the board from the off, with appearances from plenty of major characters and supporting symbols. There is a cubic wild card and forty lines of action, which all sounds like the perfect set of ingredients for some great wins on the rolling reels. Indeed it is, and this is quite possibly the best rolling reels experience that we have had on mobile since NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest.
There are some random base game bonuses on Transformers – Battle for Cybertron, and they too go hand in hand with the rolling reels. One of the alien robots will appear on the screen when the feature triggers, with Optimus Prime removing all Decepticons from the board, Megatron doing the same to the Autobots, and Grimlock and Shockwave being less specific by removing a random pattern of symbols from the board. Further to this, if you already have two bonus symbols in view, then Ratchet can enter in the same manner, but rather than removing anything, he will simply and helpfully add the one missing bonus symbol to the board.
With or without Ratchet’s help, landing three bonus symbols on the board will trigger free spins. Players basically receive a number of spins and a random multiplier within a certain range, but the good news is that the choice is down to the player concerning which of the features they wish to play. With Megatron, there are just five free spins, but the multiplier on wins will fall between eight and ten times. Go with Optimus Prime and your spins will be upped to eight and while the top end of the multipliers could still be as much as ten, it could just as easily bottom out at four, or land somewhere in between. The other two rounds offer twelve and fifteen spins, with top end multipliers of five and four times respectively, and it all comes down to how much you enjoy free spins and, further to that, how long you want to spend spinning for smaller wins!
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
There can be no doubt that Transformers – Battle for Cybertron is a very good game indeed and fans of the franchise will love everything about it. There are appearances from the most famous robots in the range and a whole host of themed features to keep things ticking over nicely. Indeed, this would be a great game even without the Transformers branding and we would suggest checking it out even if you do not know your Autobots from your Decepticons! If you do, then this is one of the best games that you could possibly hope to play and it goes without saying that we are more than happy to recommend it!
