Given that Blueprint Gaming is a relatively small developer in the grand scheme of things – overlooking the fact that they are ultimately owned by the Gauselmann Group, of course – they have picked up some pretty massive licences over the years. They have games based on Top Cat, Thundercats and many more, and now Ted is joining the stable. The movie did very well and we really enjoyed it, although we can assume that the bloke that created Family Guy could put his name to just about anything nowadays and it would do well. Nevertheless, we are intrigued to see exactly what one of the UK’s top mobile slots developers has in store for us here.
What to Expect
Blueprint has a good habit of not overdoing the theme with the symbols and that continues here. Indeed, there were not that many memorable characters in the movie aside from Ted himself and maybe Mark Wahlberg, so you cannot exactly fill the board with random faces. Instead, they have mainly stuck with playing card icons and a few themed symbols including beer and bongs. However, you will never not notice that this is a Ted slot, as the bear himself is lying asleep on the sofa at the front of the board and he makes sporadic appearances on the board itself as the wild card.
To be totally fair, this game would probably not be all that memorable or exciting if Ted simply slept through the action, so the good news is that he can wake up at any time in the base game and will award one of six different features when he does so. We won’t spoil all of the surprises here, but it is fair to say that there is quite a bit to look forward to on the board. It could be something simple like the Laser Wilds, which will see Ted shooting at the board and turning symbols wild in the process, or it could be something slightly more complex like with the remote control bonus, where Ted constantly presses the remote control after a win to hold the winning symbols in place while everything around them spins, with enhancing that win or bringing a new one into play being the main goal there.
Those features are common to see on the game, and so it never feels like you are waiting around too long for the main feature to hit, but you will always be pleased when you do. There are five more bonuses on offer here, and the first job is to trigger the round with three or more Thunder Buddies Bonus symbols in view at the same time. The first job is to spin the bonus wheel to find out which of the five features you will be playing and, once again, we will leave some of them to be discovered when you get playing. There are more wheel bonuses, a themed pick round and a couple of free spins bonuses too. Our favourite of the lot is the Super Mart Free Spins, which may only offer up five free games, but will see wilds constantly on rotation as they move around on the shelves. The important thing is that there are enough of those wilds to keep things interesting, and there is plenty of winning potential here – which can be said of all of the potential bonuses in fairness.
The MobileCasino.net Verdict
Blueprint Gaming seems to work to the principle that more features are definitely merrier and we would be inclined to agree fully! We are yet to play a mobile slot from the company that we have not enjoyed and that streak does not end here. Unlike something like Thundercats, you probably will need at least a passing interest in Ted as a character and a movie to get the most out of this one, but if you can check that box then a compelling mobile gaming experience awaits at the recommended apps featured above.
