It would be difficult not to be impressed by the way that live dealer action has made its way onto mobile screens in recent times. Not long ago, this live gaming was touted as being the cutting edge of casino gaming technology, and rightly so, but some of the biggest names to provide such action have wasted no time at all in bringing it all to mobile players in true style. Of these names, Evolution Gaming is perhaps the biggest of them all and it is always a pleasure to see them boosting their portfolio even further. They can already be relied upon to offer great action on live mobile roulette, blackjack and more, and they are looking to consolidate their position at the top of the market with the launch of the first ever live progressive jackpot game, which is to be called Jumbo 7 Jackpot.
The game is based on casino hold’em, which has long been a part of the Evolution line-up, and coincidentally is also our live game of choice. We have seen jackpot versions of popular casino card games before, albeit never in the live arena, although we have to admit that games like Caribbean Stud from Microgaming have been a little underwhelming in terms of the sheer size of the various jackpots. However, there looks to be no such issues involved here, as Evolution itself will be launching the new game by seeding the jackpot itself, to the tune of a cool €1 million.
Speaking on the launch of this potentially great new game, Todd Haushalter, Evolution Gaming Chief Product Officer, commented: “By Evolution contributing the whole €1,000,000 to start the jackpot, it is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to operators and players. With the player volumes we see on casino hold’em, this could potentially grow to be bigger than all of the online progressive slots combined. That means it could grow to in excess of €30 million, which will put it in contention to be the biggest jackpot in the history of table game or slots. That sort of money makes playing the game a lot more fun, and that is our mission with this jackpot version of casino hold’em.”
As anyone that has played jackpot card games in the past will undoubtedly have expected, the Jumbo 7 Jackpot prize will be won by players that opt to place a side bet. This stake is added on to whatever a player bets on their conventional poker hand and will remain in effect even if they fold or ultimately lose to the dealer. In order to win the progressive prize, they will need to be on the lookout for a seven-card straight flush, and hitting it will take down the full jackpot amount at once. The bet is not dead even if the flush is not hit too, as there are additional pay outs for everything from a straight through to a six-card flush, with the latter being paid at 5,000 to 1.
Until the game goes live, we cannot be sure of which casinos will be offering the jackpot version of casino hold’em, as activating the side bet will be completely optional for operators. However, we cannot see many of them choosing to pass on it, especially with Evolution seeding the jackpot centrally, meaning no major commitment from the operators. It is already possible to play Evolution’s live games on your mobile device at some of the top casinos out there, including William Hill and Mr Green, and we would definitely have to assume that they will be bringing this brand-new action to our phone and tablet screens before long.
