Two big names have contributed their findings regarding the health of the mobile casino market over recent days and both see the industry as being in better health than ever before – just like we predicted here at MobileCasino.net many months ago.
The industry flag bearer for the reports is Betsson, the highly respected Swedish casino brand. They have predicted that gaming on mobile phones and tablets will increase “significantly” over the rest of 2013. The prediction was inspired by the release of the company’s latest financial results, which noted that nine per cent of their overall revenue came from mobile devices, an increase of a full percentage point over the previous quarter.
An official statement from the company noted: “The high level of growth in the use of smartphones contributes to a strong demand for mobile gaming solutions. The rapid growth in the number of internet users across the globe will be a fundamental driver for business.”
The mobile aspect of the results was part of an overall improvement that saw revenues in the second quarter rising 19 per cent year on year to SEK579.2 million (£58 million). Operating income increased by 26 per cent to SEK137.8 million (£13.8 million).
The other company to officially note the increased demand for mobile casino gaming is comScore, the internationally renowned analytics company that works with some of the biggest corporate brands in the world. Their market research indicates that there are now twenty million mobile gamers in the UK, of which 6.2 million play almost every day. This places online gaming behind only social, search, news and weather in terms of the most popular mobile activities. The number of daily players has almost doubled since 2011, spurred on by improved handsets and tablets and access to continually updated internet connections. There were two other interesting findings in the report, with comScore determining that 52 per cent of players were female and that 64 per cent of all players actually played at home. Despite the connotations of mobile gaming, it definitely seems that many players are taking advantage of their mobile devices and home Wi-Fi to combine their activity with watching television or other home based activities.
