In some analysts’ eyes, Playtech is stealing a march on their competition as providers of mobile casino software by rapidly signing agreements with some of the biggest names in Europe to use their highly regarded mobile casino platform. Early January 2013 saw the latest addition to this portfolio with BetFred, one of the largest bookmakers in the UK and a huge sports betting and online gambling brand throughout Europe.
The BetFred/Playtech partnership is an already established one, with Playtech having supplied the main online casino software for the site for a number of years, together with poker rooms and bingo on their Virtue Fusion platform. The new deal sees BetFred’s first foray into dedicated mobile casino gaming, where they will be offering the full suite of twenty mobile casino titles to players through their mobile handsets and tablets. It is the first step in an aggressive mobile expansion strategy, whereby BetFred hopes to combine the excellent Playtech Mobile Hub with a range of other innovative mobile titles including bingo and new live dealer games, all through the same mobile interface.
As would be expected from such a partnership, existing BetFred players can use their accounts on the move by visiting the BetFred mobile site from their iPad, iPhone or Android device. Upon logging in, they will have immediate access to all of Playtech’s most popular mobile titles including the Gold Rally and Rocky slots, together with Jacks or Better Video Poker and many other excellent titles.
Both companies were naturally highly complimentary of each other following the signing of the deal, with Playtech’s spokesperson seeing it as an opportunity to extend the reach and impact of their mobile hub platform internationally, while their BetFred counterpart identified the ideal opportunity to satisfy existing customers while using the existing robust brand to entice new players to try the service.
BetFred also expressed an interest in a close working relationship with Playtech as it expands its overall mobile offering as Playtech has arguably done the most to offer a full mobile marketing package alongside its software of any of the major software providers. Such packages include everything from multi-currency support to targeted mobile advertising, both of which seem sure to become longstanding aspects of the overall BetFred mobile service.
